Our Wood concept: Secure fixings on ETICS in timber construction
Thermo Proof Wood for heavy loads – now with official building authority approval
Timber construction has become significantly more important in recent years: timber and prefabricated timber elements shorten construction times, enable cost-efficient building and, thanks to their natural insulating properties, provide excellent conditions for energy-efficient buildings while keeping wall structures slim. Timber houses and buildings in timber frame construction are often additionally fitted with an ETICS, increasingly also with wood fibre insulation boards as plaster base boards. As a result, the need for well-designed fixing solutions for everything that is mounted on the façade at a later stage is also growing. The TOX English ETICS overview likewise highlights the growing importance of timber construction and explicitly refers to applications on wood fibre insulation boards.
Fixings on ETICS façades in timber construction are particularly demanding. The insulation layer and render offer only limited load-bearing capacity, while loads must be transferred safely into the load-bearing timber substrate. Whether for light attachments such as outdoor lights, cameras or house numbers, or for more heavily loaded applications, the key requirement is a durable fixing that closes the façade neatly and does not place unnecessary pressure on the insulation. This matches the TOX ETICS concept page, which distinguishes between light, medium and heavy applications, and the Thermo Proof Wood Mini / Thermo Proof Wood catalogue texts, which emphasize quick installation, no pressure load on the façade and secure fixing on insulated timber façades.
This is exactly why TOX offers a comprehensive ETICS concept for timber construction – including a colour-coded guidance system and a project finder for quick orientation in retail and on site. Our stand-off installation systems, Thermo Proof Wood Mini and Thermo Proof Wood, support secure fixings on insulated timber façades – from typical applications in timber frame construction to installations with higher load requirements. Thermo Proof Wood is now officially approved by the building authorities and is therefore ideal for subsequently approved, safety-relevant fixings.
Further down the page, a house with clickable, colour-coded points leads directly to the relevant product group, making the path from the application to the right ETICS fixing even faster.
